Visitor Parking

Caltech has transitioned to a new vendor for visitor parking. The automated pay stations have been decommissioned, and have been replaced with a mobile payment system. : parking.caltech.edu/mobile-payments

Campus visitors may park in any commuter (unreserved) stall on campus with a paid daily or weekly parking session. Paid parking sessions (or a valid parking permit) are required in all campus lots between the hours of 7:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday. Existing scratch-off parking passes that are marked with the current date will continue to be honored in the Caltech lots.

Visitor Parking Instructions

Caltech visitors can purchase their parking session at payment signs located in highly visible locations at the stairwells in all of the campus parking structures. No download is required to purchase a visitor parking session. Hourly, Daily, and Weekly parking sessions are available.

To purchase a visitor parking session, please take the following steps:

  1. At the visitor payment sign, select the scan or text to pay option (no download required)
  2. On the Honk screen, follow the prompts and select if you want an hourly, daily, or weekly parking session
  3. Select your payment to complete the transaction

Visitors may park in unreserved stalls in any campus lot or structure during the duration of their parking session.

Visitor parking sessions may be purchased at the following rates:

  • 1 hour permit: $3 (plus service fee)
  • 2 hour permit: $4 (plus service fee)
  • 3 hour permit: $6 (plus service fee)
  • 4 hour permit: $8 (plus service fee)
  • All day permit: $9 (plus service fee)
  • Weekly permit: $27 (plus service fee)

Visitor Parking sessions are valid in unmarked (commuter) parking stalls.

Weekly parking sessions are valid 7 calendar days from the date of purchase.

A $9 daily parking session is valid through the end of the business day (5:00 p.m.) in which the session is purchased.

Examples:

  • Susan arrives on Tuesday at 10:00 a.m. and purchases a $9 daily parking session. This session is valid until 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
  • David arrives on Tuesday at 3:00 p.m. and purchases a two-hour parking session. This session is valid through the remainder of the business day on Tuesday.
  • William arrives on Tuesday at 3:00 p.m.. William is not familiar with the parking regulations and purchases a $9 daily parking session. This session is valid only until 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday, and is not valid at any time on Wednesday.

Weekdays after 5pm, and on weekends, campus visitors may park in commuter (unreserved) stalls without a parking permit.
